A couple of years ago while I was studying computer science at the University of Karlsruhe (after I got my degree they started calling it "KIT - Karlsruher Institut für Techologe) I spend some time at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (Hochschule für Gestaltung) taking courses in communication design and media art. One of the courses I took was Sven Voelker's very interesting course "Kommunikationsdesign intensiv" (part I and part II). We got weekly assignments and one of those was to create a poster with the title of Derek Jarman's cite "the blue sky is an illusion, behind lies infinite black". So I spent days glueing 100 small cubes of different height and edge length. I kept this poster - even when we moved to Wiesbaden, and today I took the chance to take some pictures of that poster.

Funny that some time later Sven left the HfG Karlsruhe and joined the "Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design", whose website we relaunched last year.

A couple of weeks later I used the data of the templates I generated for the cubes to render two 3D-Videos (using PHP only) for two further assignment. Make sure to watch the videos to the end to see the cubes. Audio is disabled intentionally, sorry for the blurry video quality...
